Our fascination with #concrete will be in full display over the next few days. As was the case this morning we go back to our own backyard where the UTSC Humanities Wing by John Andrews continues to capture our imagination every time we visit. Concrete is vilified labeled as old, boring or cold. Sometimes worse. We beg to differ. There is really very little we find more exciting than photographing concrete. There is something about how it plays with light. The subtle nuances and textures that come to life no matter the type of light. It can be hard and solemn or soft and inviting. And pretty much anything in between. Basically we just can’t get enough of it. How would you feel about a few #concrete series? Mood. We like a sunny sky as much as the next gal/guy. We do. However, we live in Canada. Not exactly known for its sunny climes. Instead of constantly chasing the sun on shoots, we should really embrace the bad weather and recognize it as an opportunity rather than a hindrance. It’s the opportunity to simplify the image, make it all about the architecture, create mood and the list goes on.
