We don’t often have the pleasure of having the project architects/designers along with us on a shoot, but it is always a blast when we do. When Andrew and Jodi of Batay-Csorba architects contacted us to shoot their Glebe Residence project, we jumped at the chance to work with the talented duo. This awesome couple boast a pretty impressive CV (Jodi and Andrew were Lead Project Designers at Frank Gehry and Morphosis, respectively, and have been nationally and internationally acclaimed), yet they were as down to earth and easy going. In short, this was a fantastic shoot for us both from all perspectives.
For this project, Jodi and Andrew did a full interior renovation and addition to a 1890’s house in Ottawa. The two story existing rectilinear brick massing was retained providing a direct reference to its past, while a new third story and three story rear addition clad in contrasting black metal panels cantilever and pivot around an existing historic sugar maple tree located on the site.
