What makes an image impactful for you? What makes it resonate with you? As photographers, we might like some of our images because they were creatively stimulating to make, technically difficult to execute or because light, action and space came together perfectly...one thing we can never anticipate is how our images will be received, or which one will be most “popular”. Some times our favorites from a shoot will go completely unnoticed, others will get an amazing reception. This particular image of the Holocaust Monument by @daniellibeskind is an interesting case for us. It really all came together in an instant. As we were waiting for dusk, we decided to step inside the monument for a bit. The clouds, the stairs leading to the peace tower, and most importantly the person standing at the bottom of the stair were just too good to resist. We definitely knew we had “the shot”. With that said, this image has almost taken on a life of its own. It is by far our most reposted image (and incidentally, most stolen). What do you think?

Our second entry for #facadefriday is from an older project by our friend @tarikzoubdi and partners: The Wall of Knowledge. As we type these words we were meant to be photographing the adjacent site with Tarik this very week. Hopefully, when the current events are behind us, we can reconnect again.

We don’t often post dusk shots but sometimes you just gotta. We loved this beauty by @dpo_architecture in bright daylight but were surprised at how well the black wood facade showed at dusk. #facadefriday.

Revisited an old shoot for an upcoming book submission. Found these two previously unedited images from @og_architect’s brilliant Rabbit Snare Gorge Cabin. Good times!

A little sneak peek at our latest shoot with @hariripontariniarchitects...

For now, these are the last images we’ll share from Fifty/50, a project that explores modernist church architecture in Toronto. Fifty churches, shot exclusively with a 50mm lens. I’m taking this unforeseen free time to catch up on some editing. I was on track to have all 50 shot by the end of April, but obviously my schedule will need to be revised.
